Arsenal eye 13-goal star after ‘completely crazy’ Romano message

Arsenal are targeting a summer move for Brentford hotshot Bryan Mbeumo, according to a report.

The Cameroon international has been nothing short of sensational for Brentford for some time now. Last season, Mbeumo adequately replaced star striker Ivan Toney during his betting ban and this season, with the England international now playing in Saudi Arabia, this form has continued.

Mbeumo has scored a very impressive 13 goals in 20 Premier League appearances so far and this is only serving to enhance his already sparkling reputation.

The 25-year-old has been touted as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, with the Egyptian’s contract situation still far from being resolved.

Additionally, Mbeumo has been heavily linked with Arsenal for the best part of a year and the Gunners are known to have enquired about him late in the summer window prior to loaning Raheem Sterling from Chelsea.

Brentford won’t sell in January

According to Sky Germany, Arsenal’s attraction to Mbeumo has not vanished despite getting rebuffed previously. In fact, the winger features high on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist for the upcoming summer window.

A January transfer has been ruled out, with Fabrizio Romano stating on Tuesday that it would take a ‘completely crazy proposal’ to tempt Brentford into a sale this month.

However, with Mbeumo out of contract in 2026, he looks primed to leave the Bees in the summer unless they want to risk losing him for nothing the following year.

Last year, Brentford boss Thomas Frank openly admitted that he would try to sign Mbeumo if he were in charge of a top club and it appears as though Arsenal will head the Dane’s advice this year.

The Gunners’ 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday certainly showed that they need some more offensive firepower if they are to consistently challenge for major silverware.
