Arsenal eyeing Spanish star after Piero Hincapie

Arsenal are reportedly keen on landing Girona right-back Arnau Martinez despite their ongoing pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie.

The Gunners are close to parting ways with centre-back Jakub Kiwior. Porto are in advanced negotiations over a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Arsenal have identified Hincapie as the ideal replacement, and the Ecuadorian has already given the green light to a potential deal this summer.

Amidst this, Arsenal are aiming to add another defender to their ranks and have offered €10 million to purchase Martinez from Girona.

The 22-year-old is primarily a right-back by trade and has been a mainstay for the La Liga outfit since making his debut a few seasons ago.

Arsenal are pushing for a late deal and it remains to be seen whether Girona accept the proposal, given they don’t have a successor in place.

Martinez is seen as a third-choice right-back for the Gunners behind Jurrien Timber and Ben White, who have both been injury prone in the past.
