Atletico Madrid are eager to bolster their forward line this summer, according to reports in Spain, and they have identified Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus as a key transfer target.

The Brazil international has made 17 Premier League starts so far this season, partly due to injury issues, while he has only netted eight goals in all competitions.

Kai Havertz has often been preferred down the middle in 2024 and Arsenal are interested in signing Sporting CP goal machine Viktor Gyokeres ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers.

Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen have also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta looks to sign a more consistent goal-scorer.

Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes have now reported that Atletico Madrid are interested in pursuing Jesus this summer as Diego Simeone’s side look to sign forward reinforcements.

The report states that Jesus could cost up to €70 million, with Arsenal unlikely to sell him for less than €52.2m – the amount they paid to sign the Brazilian from Manchester City in 2022.

However, Atleti would reportedly be required to sell players such as Alvaro Morata in order to afford a move for Jesus.

Although Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Jesus, Fabrizio Romano recently dismissed claims that he is likely to leave Arsenal this summer.

The transfer expert told CaughtOffside: “I’m not aware of anything between Juventus and Gabriel Jesus, to be honest. Zero information on discussions or contacts as things stand.

“Gabriel is really focused on Arsenal and he’s not planning to leave the club at this stage. The situation remains very quiet, and of course, he wants to do his best for the club.”
