Arsenal are far from the only Premier League club Leroy Sane could join this summer, with Newcastle United quickly emerging as a potential destination, according to German media.
The Bayern Munich winger has made the controversial move of switching agents just as the Bundesliga champions were gearing up to finalise his new contract.
Sane, who will be a free agent this summer as things stand, has linked up with superagent Pini Zahavi in a bid to negotiate a better deal after Bayern had asked him to take a significant pay cut and also forego a signing-on fee.
The Bavarians have made it clear that they will not play this game and won’t improve their offer, which means that Sane could leave Munich this summer despite generally wanting to stay.
Arsenal have frequently been credited with an interest in the Germany international, but according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, talks with the Gunners were led by Sane’s previous representatives.
Zahavi ‘on the prowl’
Falk now claims that Zahavi is ‘on the prowl’ and leaving no stone unturned to find potential suitors for Sane. “What’s true is that Pini is on the prowl. Zahavi is checking out clubs in England, and there are a few, ” he said on his Bayern Insider podcast.
“The player’s previous management had already negotiated with Arsenal, but now there’s a club that actually had its eye on Kingsley Coman, a player who plays a similar position, and the club is in the north.

The club in question are Newcastle, who are “among the candidates being checked out,” Falk reveals. “Leroy Sane actually wants to play in the Champions League, that’s his goal, that’s his aspiration.
“Newcastle is being discounted a bit. They also have great potential, of course, with the [Saudi] backers. I’d say if things don’t work out at Bayern, the clear focus is on England. Preferably towards London, but Newcastle is also a good alternative.”
