Arsenal have officially finished above Tottenham for the second year in a row with a tense 3-2 win away at their bitter rivals on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners took away three vital points in the title race on Sunday after goal from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg putting the ball into his own net on 15 minutes.

Spurs fought back in the second half through Cristian Romero and a late Son Heung-min penalty, however Arsenal held on to the lead to keep themselves ahead of Manchester City for at least the next game week.

As a result, the Gunners’ fanbase have been quick to rub it in on X, formerly Twitter, with the final whistle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium surely music to Arsenal-supporting ears with their side under the cosh at the death.

St Totteringham’s Day is the unofficial name for the date Arsenal fans make certain that they will finish above their arch-rivals, and is usually celebrated by fans relishing in getting one over their most-hated rivals.

Gunners supporters wasted little time after the game, as one might expect, with one writing: ‘HAPPY ST. TOTTERINGHAM’S DAY, GOONERS! As it should be.’

Another added: ‘North London is red! Happy St Totteringham’s Day.’

A third said: ‘St Totteringham’s Day is here! North London will always be [red emoji]’

And a fourth got in on the celebrations, writing: ‘Happy St. Totteringham Day. Over to you City.’

The Gunners keep their spot at the top of the Premier League after opening up a four-point lead over Man City.

The Citizens take on Nottingham Forest in the 4.30pm kick-off, and while the champions have a game in hand they will at least remain second until the next round of fixtures.

Tottenham similarly have games in hand on the Gunners, having only played 33 times so far in the campaign.

As such, the 15 they could pick up would only leave them five short of Arsenal, even if Mikel Arteta and Co lose all three of their remaining matches.

It also cemented an unbeaten season against Spurs for the Gunners who were held 2-2 by Tottenham earlier in the season at the Emirates.

One fan in particular seemed to sum up the mood in the Arsenal camp best, however.

They wrote: ‘Blessed be thy Gooners, as thou celebrate on this sacred St Totteringham’s Day.

‘May your glasses be ever full, and your belly be ever laughing at your neighbour!’
