Arsenal fans were left seething after Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera avoided a red card following an altercation with Kai Havertz.
The incident occurred early in the second half when the two players were locked in a tangle of arms.
Havertz wrapped his left arm around Mosquera in an attempt to stop the Colombian from playing on, however, the Wolves defender appeared visibly frustrated and shoved Havertz to the turf.
Mosquera then appeared to forcefully place his right hand on Havertz’s neck.
Realising what he had just done, Mosquera then put his hand up as if to apologise before slowly falling down to the turf as well.

The Wolves man then appeared to put his hand on Havertz’s throat but avoided a booking
Luckily for Mosquera and Wolves, he escaped without receiving any form of card for the incident.
But Arsenal fans weren’t quite as forgiving on social media, with many baffled as to how the Wolves man was allowed to remain on the pitch.
@afcadil wrote on X: ‘Absolute disgrace refereeing. How he can’t be sent off or even carded for this is beyond a joke. @FA_PGMOL sort it out!’
Another fan referenced the controversial red card in the Newcastle vs Southampton game, where Fabian Schar was sent off for a headbutt in which Ben Brereton Diaz threw himself to the floor.
@absol01 added: ‘PGMOL is so useless, only day one. Heads together is red card but throat grab isn’t.’
@gunner_mtl posted: ‘Straight red but the rules don’t apply to Arsenal!’
@SantiPodolski said: ‘This is horrendous refereeing and baffling decision by VAR.’
The incident with Havertz wasn’t the only headline-generating moment from Mosquera as he appeared to grab the buttocks of Gabriel Jesus.

The Arsenal striker lashed out in response and picked up a yellow card.
Ultimately it was Havertz who had the last laugh over Mosquera as Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium.
Havertz scored the opener for the Gunners in the 25th minute when he directed a header past Jose Sa to hand the hosts a deserved lead.
Arsenal doubled their advantage in the 74th minute as Havertz turned provider for Bukayo Saka.
