Arsenal scouts closely monitoring the form of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres would have come away impressed from what they saw on Sunday as the Sweden striker finally hit form again.
The Gunners have made Gyokeres one of their transfer priorities in the summer as they chase down more firepower, having been left short of attacking options due to injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

Along with Benjamin Sesko, the 26-year-old Sporting striker is one player they have been closely tracking.
Gyokeres’ form has been cause for concern in recent weeks, with the forward suffering from a mystery injury that had seen him fail to score in four successive appearances – a virtual drought for a player who started the season finding the rate at a prodigious rate.
Although Sporting disappointed overall in a 2-2 draw with AVS on Sunday, Gyokeres was back to his best, showing no signs of the injury that has hampered him in recent weeks.
It was an overwhelmingly positive message for Arsenal, who may have had long-term fears over his fitness after he was reduced to playing off the bench in a succession of games and did not even feature against Dortmund in the second leg of their Champions League clash.

Arsenal told to stump up release clause
Sporting president Frederico Varandas has refused to confirm that Gyokeres will be sold this summer.
He has said that everything around the striker’s future is just noise for the moment.
“Gyokeres was going to leave in the summer, a year ago, a year and a half ago…” he told Sporting TV (via A Bola), referencing previous transfer rumours.
“Gyokeres was going to leave, anyway. We were champions and he was already leaving.
“In January a transfer was impossible but he stayed. I won’t dwell on it, he’s already too much in the media because of his qualities and there’s no point talking about the summer market. Players have clauses.”
Arsenal have been sent a clear message by the Sporting boss: pay Gyokeres’ release clause or forget it.
