Arsenal given new title prediction as exact points total compared to Liverpool

Arsenal are being tipped to finish second in the Premier League this season, with Mikel Arteta’s side predicted to end the campaign with 74 points, according to a supercomputer

Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes have been assessed following their draw with Manchester City. The Gunners clawed back a point against Man City in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to a late strike from Gabriel Martinelli that saved Mikel Arteta’s squad from defeat.

Erling Haaland had put Man City ahead within the first 10 minutes. But Arsenal managed to level the score in injury time through Martinelli, who was initially left on the bench by boss Arteta.

A prediction has since surfaced suggesting how the final league table might shape up once all 38 matches have been played out. Opta Analysts have crunched the numbers and predict that Arsenal will secure second place in the Premier League this season.

They’re backing the Gunners to finish with 74 points (73.9), nearly eight less than Liverpool who are tipped to clinch the Premier League title again, this time with 82 points (81.5).

According to the stats, Arsenal only have a 22.5 percent chance of lifting the Premier League trophy this season, with Liverpool being the clear favourites with a 60.5 percent probability of bringing the title back to Merseyside.

As for the remaining Champions League spots, Man City (67) and Chelsea (62) are predicted to round off the top four, while Crystal Palace sit in fifth with 60 points. Wolves, Burnley and Sunderland are the clubs expected to face the drop to the Championship.

Currently, the Gunners find themselves in second place in the Premier League table, neck and neck with Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth, but trailing five points behind leaders Liverpool, who kept their winning streak alive with a victory over Everton at the weekend.

Arsenal’s next Premier League challenge will see them heading north to take on Newcastle United on Sunday.

“I’m very proud of the team,” Arteta expressed after the City draw. “We dominated them. I’m very disappointed with the result.

“We started incredibly well, so dominant, we didn’t allow them to breathe, but in one action, it was very chaotic, there was a duel there, we lose it, and suddenly they find themselves with open spaces and they are lethal there. They finished it with the quality that they have.

“After that we had five shaky minutes that we have to reset mentally because it was so unfair that we concede a goal with what we were doing and after that we completely dominated the game again.

“If you cannot win it, at least don’t lose it, and we created an unbelievable moment to score the goal. But the overall feeling, because I know how hard it is to do what we’ve done on the pitch against Manchester City, I wanted more reward for the team.”
