Crystal Palace have rekindled their interest in Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah following his failed move to Nottingham Forest.

Nketiah was expected to join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side for a fee worth up to €35 million, but an agreement couldn’t be reached with the Englishman and talks have now broken down.

However, Arsenal’s hopes of offloading the 24-year-old aren’t over as Crystal Palace have re-entered the race to sign him.

The Eagles’ interest in Nketiah was first exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers back in December 2023 and Palace are now hoping to agree a deal with Arsenal.

According to Crystal Palace reporter Bobby Manzi, Oliver Glasner’s side are considering a loan move with an obligation to buy for the Gunners forward.

Nketiah scored six goals in 37 appearances for Arsenal last season, although his last goal for the club came against PSV Eindhoven back in December.

Meanwhile, he has played just 28 league minutes from a possible 1,260 since the start of March, with Kai Havertz emerging as Mikel Arteta’s preferred number nine.

Nketiah has three years remaining on his current contract at Arsenal, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €14.4m.

Despite Palace’s interest in Nketiah, they are also keen on purchasing a new left-wing-back and a new centre-back – with those two positions deemed to be of higher importance.

Crystal Palace’s transfer business

So far this summer, Crystal Palace have spent €30m on Ismaila Sarr and Chadi Riad, while Daichi Kamada and Louie Moulden have arrived on free transfers.

They have, however, lost the talismanic figure of Michael Olise, who joined Bayern Munich for an initial €53m at the start of July.

In addition, Joachim Andersen has left for Fulham and Jordan Ayew has joined newly-promoted Leicester City. Talented youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is among the players to have left Palace on loan for the 2024-25 campaign.
