Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
The Gunners bolstered their midfield department this summer with the purchases of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard. The former has started every Premier League game so far this campaign.
This has not ended the speculation over a possible new midfield signing and Fichajes claim that the Gunners could swoop for De Jong with his Barcelona deal expiring during the summer of 2026.
The Dutchman has yet to extend his deal with the Blaugrana and the club’s hierarchy are quite clear that he will be sold if he does not pen an extension before the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the situation. They are the main candidates to land his signature, but they could face competition from the Saudi Pro League, according to Fichajes’ update.
