Kenneth Taylor has appeared on the radar of several top European clubs.
The Ajax midfielder, like the rest of his team, has been on an upward trend in recent weeks and has started playing noticeably better – a development that has also been noticed outside of the Netherlands.
After Manchester United and Manchester City were already eyeing the Ajax star, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion are now also in the race.
Premier League clubs are plotting Taylor’s arrival in January, but this is thought unlikely. Ajax are not prepared to cooperate with a transfer in the middle of the season. A departure in the summer of 2024 is more likely.
Taylor’s ideal club
Taylor was previously also linked with Real Madrid, who are said to be looking for talented reinforcements for the midfield. The Blancos could say goodbye to veterans Toni Kroos (33) and Luka Modric (38) at the end of the season.
Taylor’s arrival would be welcomed by head scout Juni Calafat, who praised the Dutch international for his “ball handling, game intelligence and attacking ability.”
However, SciSports’ Career Advice Tool shows that Taylor would be wise to ignore the interest of the above-mentioned clubs and leave for AS Roma. The Dutch international would come into his own under José Mourinho, while he would certainly be a welcome addition for Roma.
The Romans brought Leandro Paredes, Renato Sanches and Houssem Aouar to Italy last summer, with only the Argentine able to convince so far. Once highly-rated Aouar, who arrived on a free transfer from Lyon, has not even been part of the team in the last matches.

Arsenal could perhaps be a good alternative for Taylor. The Dutch international could form the midfield for the Gunners together with Declan Rice. The data shows that the 21-year-old has the potential (77.0) to eventually become an important player for the Londoners.
To reach that level, Taylor will need to have a permanent starting position in the coming years. However, it remains to be seen whether this would be the case in London. Mikel Arteta has an excellent competitor for Taylor in Jorginho.
If the interested clubs still want to strike and steal Taylor from Ajax, they will have to expect a considerable transfer fee to be required. Not only because of the fact that the midfielder has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €22.5 million but also because Ajax have no intention to sell Taylor in January.
The Amsterdammers know that Taylor’s stay could be crucial for the revival of Ajax and the chances for European football next season.
