Noni Madueke is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, with the forward now set to miss a number of games

Noni Madueke faces up to 14 matches on the sidelines for Arsenal and England following a knee injury sustained during Sunday’s 1-1 stalemate with Manchester City.

The 23-year-old began the encounter but was withdrawn for Bukayo Saka at the interval. “He had an issue very early in the match and he wasn’t well enough to continue,” Mikel Arteta revealed in his post-match press conference.

According to The Athletic, Monday’s scans confirmed that Madueke has escaped an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, though the ex-Chelsea star is still anticipated to be sidelined for approximately two months.

Madueke is now poised to miss Arsenal’s upcoming run of fixtures, plus three World Cup qualifiers and one friendly for England. The Gunners face four more matches before the next international window, followed by at least six more until the campaign’s third fortnight break.

In the short term, Madueke will be absent for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash at Port Vale and will sit out the Premier League journey to Newcastle, alongside forthcoming encounters with Olympiacos and West Ham.

With Madueke’s two-month rehabilitation period concluding at the close of November’s international break, his potential comeback could arrive against Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, November 23.

That would prove quite the match for Madueke’s return, with the Gunners subsequently facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League and his former side Chelsea in what could be a crucial seven days.

Madueke joins a growing list of injured Arsenal forwards, with Kai Havertz out since mid-August due to a knee issue and Gabriel Jesus still recovering from an ACL tear at the start of the year.

Arsenal are also without their skipper Martin Odegaard, who has been struggling with a shoulder injury since the team’s 5-0 victory over Leeds United. However, the Gunners remain hopeful that he will return soon.
