Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira was offered to Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window, according to Bild in Germany.
The Portuguese was deemed surplus to requirements at the Gunners and he was linked with a move to the Bundesliga last month.
Stuttgart discussed a loan with an option to buy with the Gunners, but the 25-year-old eventually ended up joining Hamburg in a similar deal.
Bild now claim that Vieira could have ended up at Bayern, had the German champions given the green light for a potential transfer.
Vieira’s agent Jorge Mendes offered the midfielder’s services to Bayern after Jamal Musiala‘s serious injury, but Bayern passed up the chance.
The former Porto graduate has had a tough career since leaving the Gunners and has the chance to redeem himself with Hamburg this term.
Hamburg are back in the German top-flight after a lengthy seven-year gap and they could purchase Vieira if he helps them beat the drop.
