Arsenal will press ahead with a move for Joan Garcia after agreeing a deal for the sale of Aaron Ramsdale, according to David Ornstein.
The Gunners have reached an agreement with Southampton over the transfer of their No.2 that will see the Arsenal pocket as much as €29 million. Ramsdale is keen on leaving to become a first-choice option elsewhere and the north London club won’t stand in his way.
A final deal already appears close, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. Though the journalist made no mention of whether personal terms had been agreed with the player, he states that Ramsdale is already set to travel for his medical.

The Ramsdale agreement, of course, means that Arsenal will now have to dip into the market for a replacement. After loaning Karl Hein to Real Valladolid, the Gunners’ only senior goalkeeper right now is David Raya.
Luckily for Arsenal, sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta have already put things in place to fill the Ramsdale hole swiftly.

Arsenal to push for Garcia
As FootballTransfers exclusively revealed, Arsenal are determined to make Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia their replacement for the England shot-stopper. David Ornstein has now confirmed that the Premier League giants will now ‘push ahead’ on securing a deal.
Personal terms have already been agreed with the Spaniard, who became the Barcelona-based side’s No.1 in the second half of last season and helped them secure promotion back to LaLiga.

Now, Arsenal need to strike a deal with Espanyol or pay Garcia’s €25 million release clause. The 23-year-old recently returned to his club after winning Olympic gold with Spain.
Ideally, Arsenal would also sign an experienced homegrown goalkeeper as a No.3. They have been linked with Dan Bentley of Wolves but have so far baulked at their Premier League rivals’ asking price. Their rejection of a Ramsdale loan offer will have also not endeared them to their counterparts.
