Arsenal are reportedly plotting a summer move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon amid competition from Liverpool and Manchester United.
The England forward has scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 38 appearances across all competitions so far this season and he has been heavily linked with a summer switch in recent weeks.
Gordon has emerged as a top target for several Premier League clubs and The Sun now report that Arsenal are leading the race for his signature as things stand.
FootballTransfers understands that Mikel Arteta’s side are currently in talks with Rafael Leao’s representatives ahead of a potential move this summer, while they have now added Gordon to their list of transfer targets for 2026.
The Gunners reportedly believe that Gordon is ready to leave Newcastle and they are hoping to finalise a deal for a transfer fee of €85 million (£75m).
Newcastle, on the other hand, have set their asking price at just shy of €110m, but Arsenal are understood to be confident that a transfer can be arranged for a slightly cheaper price.
Gordon recently confirmed that he isn’t distracted by rumoured interest in his services, however The Sun state that he could move to the Emirates Stadium later this year if the north London giants submit a suitable offer.
Eddie Howe responds to Arsenal’s reported interest in Anthony Gordon
Amid speculation of interest from Arsenal, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has urged his star attacker to remain focused on performing for the Magpies for the remainder of the season.
When asked about the possibility of Gordon joining the Gunners, Howe told reporters on Friday: “I’m not sure there’s a lot I can do about that. I’ve not seen the story, so it’s news to me.
“But we’re mid-season, we’re in the middle of some of the biggest games of his career and who knows what’s going to happen internationally with him in the summer as well?
“He’s not got time to look left or right, he’s got to be fully focused on straight ahead and the next game and trying to be as good as he can be.”
Howe added: “In this age, there’s always rumour and speculation. I don’t see probably 90% of it – I’m sure the players probably see more than I do – but I think it comes with the territory of being a top player and playing at this level, that there’s going to be speculation.
“I think you’ve just got to put it out of your brain and you’ve got to focus on the football because as we know with our schedule, there’s so many games, there’s no time for distractions. We have to be fully focused on each match.”
