The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months, with Los Blancos eager to bring the Frenchman to the Santiago Bernabeu as part of a defensive rebuild.

However, PSG are also interested in Saliba and they have even lodged a €95m offer for the France international, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Luis Enrique’s side missed out on Leny Yoro this summer, with the 18-year-old joining Manchester United for an initial €62m instead, and they have now set their sights on completing a deal for Saliba next summer.

The Arsenal defender has just under three years remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, but the Gunners are expected to offer him a new deal in a bid to ward off interest from both Real Madrid and PSG.

Despite PSG’s recent offer, Arsenal are unlikely to sell Saliba, with the 23-year-old emerging as one of the best defenders in world football since returning to the club after three loan spells back in Ligue 1.

Virgil van Dijk on William Saliba

Saliba was recently praised by Liverpool legend Virgil van Dijk during an interview with former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand.

“Well obviously Saliba is making very good steps at the moment,” Van Dijk said when questioned about the current set of Premier League defenders.

“Yeah, he’s the first one I have in mind. He’s a solid one, in possession I think he’s doing a good job.”

Ferdinand then asked if Saliba reminded Van Dijk of himself and the Netherlands international admitted: “Yeah, maybe. I think, if I’m honest, when I was that age I was nowhere near what he is today. That’s the beauty of football.”
