Arsenal star discusses SURPRISE exit after Gunners contract offer

Arsenal midfield star Jorginho has opened the door to leaving the Gunners and continuing his career in Brazil.

Mikel Arteta’s revolution at the Emirates Stadium will continue in 2025, but while the departure of Jorginho and fellow central midfielder Thomas Partey in the summer, when their contracts expire, is something that the Gunners seem to have programmed, losing either immediately would represent something of a blow.

Arsenal do not yet have the midfield depth to cope with such a departure, yet Jorginho has been linked with a move to Brazil, the country the Italy international was born in.

Indeed, the 33-year-old former Chelsea star, who has played 17 times across all competitions for the Gunners this season, did not reject the rumours.

“Football is full of surprises, but my full focus is next game with Arsenal. I don’t even pay attention to the rumours,” he told TNT Sport Brasil in quotes relayed by Fabrizio Romano.

“It’s a possibility to return to Brazil. I never played there so it’s an open door for the future.”

Jorginho has Arsenal offer on the table

FootballTransfers revealed in September that Arsenal have offered Jorginho a coaching role at the club. It appears, however, that if he is to continue as a player – something he may be keen to do for another year – he will have to do it away from the Emirates Stadium.

Jorginho has previously been linked with a transfer to Besitkas, yet there has been an overhaul in the coaching staff at the Turkish club since those rumours first spread, with former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now in charge.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are preparing to lose the veteran central midfielder. Personal terms have already been agreed for the transfer of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi in the summer, with details over how he will transition to London life all that are left to be finalised in that particular deal, FootballTransfers exclusively revealed.
