Arsenal could battle it out with Napoli to sign Lille defender Alexsandro Ribeiro during the summer transfer window, according to Brazilian outlet UOL.
The London giants are in the transfer market for another central defender. They were recently keen on landing Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, but he chose to join Real Madrid instead.
The club are exploring alternatives and reports claim that they are keen on landing Ribeiro, who recently made his debut for Brazil against Paraguay.
The 25-year-old is a strong ball-playing centre-back, who is comfortable with both feet. He has also excelled with his positioning and recoveries.
Arsenal have now entered the pursuit of his services, but they are likely to face competition from Serie A champions Napoli, who are long-term admirers.
Lille consider Ribeiro as a key player in their squad, but the French outfit are open to sanctioning his sale for the right price during the transfer window.
Ribeiro is likewise open to a bigger challenge in his career.
