Arsenal are keen to further strengthen their squad this summer as they look to continue their progression under Mikel Arteta ahead of the new season.

The Gunners have improved each campaign under the tenure of their former midfielder and that is partly due to their shrewd activity in the transfer market under him.

In the summer of 2023, Arsenal broke their transfer record to sign Declan Rice from West Ham for €116.6 million.

In addition, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya (loan) also arrived during the same window as the Gunners spent big after missing out on the English top flight title.

The club haven’t been shy in splashing the cash recently to try and fight the might of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League, and with an injection of Champions League money, they are set to splurge on transfers this summer once again.

We exclusively detailed via Steve Kay that Arsenal are prepared to SMASH their transfer record this summer, with Arteta set to be backed heavily in the transfer market.

As always with such a big club, the Arsenal transfer rumour mill is in full swing, with Arteta keen to add to the talent he has already brought to the club.

Who would benefit from Merino to Arsenal?

West Ham want Real Sociedad’s No.1 Merino replacement

Havertz backed to lead the line

Arsenal are on the hunt for a new centre-forward but Kai Havertz has the backing of his team-mates to make that position his own.

“Do you know what, I spoke to Declan Rice the other day, and he spoke about Havertz in such glowing terms,” Rio Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

“Like ‘We don’t need a No9, Havertz is our guy.’ The confidence he exuded about Havertz.”

The Gunners have been strongly linked with names like Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.

Partey unlikely to leave this summer

It is unlikely Thomas Partey leaves Arsenal this summer.

For the past couple of transfer windows, the club has been open to letting Partey go should a decent offer come in, but there don’t seem to be many interested parties at the moment.

It is no secret that the Gunners will likely sign Mikel Merino within the next week which will shove Partey down the pecking order at the Emirates. (CaughtOffside)

Everton favourites to sign Nketiah

Everton are favourites to sign Eddie Nketiah after Bournemouth bowed out of the transfer race.

Nketiah is now third choice striker at the Emirates behind Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, and the club are happy to let him leave to raise transfer funds.

Bournemouth recently signed Evanilson to replace Dominic Solanke, so Everton will now go up against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace to sign the Arsenal forward. (Football Insider)

Reiss Nelson could still leave

Leicester remain interested in signing Reiss Nelson from Arsenal.

The winger is on the periphery of the first team at the Emirates and could be allowed to leave on loan, though a permanent deal is preferred by Arsenal.

Any potential deal could be scuppered by Nelson’s reported £120k a week wages, however. (Telegraph)

HUGE praise for Saka

Martin Odegaard has heaped praise on his team-mate Bukayo Saka, saying after the Wolves win:

“There is no roof for this guy. It is unbelievable the quality that he has, and how professional he is, how much he loves the game and how much he puts into it every day.

“The sky is the limit for Bukayo. I am just happy to have him on my team, and we have got to help him to improve all the time, and push him. I am really happy for him. I think Bukayo will just get better and better.”

Redknapp backs Arsenal for title

Jamie Redknapp reckons Arsenal will win the Premier League ahead of Manchester City.

“I love Manchester City,” he said as a pundit on Sky Sports.

“However, I’m still sticking with Arsenal [to win the Premier League] this year — I just think they’re ready to do it.”

Should Arsenal hijack Toney transfer?

It now appears likely that Ivan Toney will move to the Saudi Pro League but John Obi Mikel reckons Arsenal should hijack the deal.

When asked on BeIN Sports this weekend what club Toney should go to, Mikel responded: “I think a club like Arsenal. He has been linked with Arsenal for quite some time now.

“I think a club like Arsenal they will need someone like that, a goalscorer. [Kai] Havertz is doing really well but Arsenal will need somebody like that, a proven goalscorer.”
