The Gunners striker is suspected to have ruptured his ACL, which means that he is set to miss the rest of the season. Mikel Arteta has already admitted that Arsenal could become active in the wake of this terrible news.

Moreover, Arsenal are also thinking about the summer and are on the verge of landing a major coup.

Martin Zubimendi bombshell

It is no secret that Arteta is a long-time admirer of compatriot Martin Zubimendi at Real Sociedad. After chasing him for over a year, the Spanish tactician is finally set to get his man.

The Daily Mail dropped a bombshell on Tuesday by reporting that Arsenal have ‘virtually completed’ a deal to sign Zubimendi in the summer.

David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have since confirmed the news, with Arsenal set to formally trigger his €60 million release clause. Personal terms are not an issue.

Arsenal wanted to sign him immediately, but Real Sociedad insisted on keeping Zubimendi until the end of the season.

Gabriel Jesus injury

Initial scans on Gabriel Jesus’ leg appear to have confirmed Arsenal’s worst fears that the Brazilian has ruptured his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

“We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad, that has been the same since day one,” Arteta said after the preliminary diagnosis. “We are looking, we are trying. Let’s see what we are able to do.”

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed on Monday that Juventus had knocked back Arsenal’s opening bid for striker Dusan Vlahovic. In light of Jesus’ injury, Arsenal will now up the ante in search of a new striker and in pursuit of Vlahovic, according to Tuttosport.

However, Ben Jacobs reports that Benjamin Sesko remains Arsenal’s priority target for the No.9 position, confirming FootballTransfers’ exclusive reporting from December. It is, however, unclear if the RB Leipzig striker is willing to move mid-season.

Oleksandr Zinchenko wants out

After links with Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, Borussia Dortmund have now opened talks for Arsenal full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko, according to Sky Germany.

It is claimed that the Ukraine international is ‘keen to leave’ and that Arsenal have set an initial price tag of around €20m. The Gunners want a permanent sale or loan with an obligation to buy.

Dortmund were already interested in Zinchenko in the summer and likely view him as a more attainable target than Chelsea defender Renato Veiga, with whom they have already agreed terms but who has been given a €30m price tag.
