Arsenal will play their first Champions League semi-final match since 2009 when they take on French champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday
Arsenal are set for another blockbuster Champions League night as they host Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their semi-final tie on Tuesday.
Despite their poor form in the Premier League, the Gunners are flying in Europe, fresh off the back of a 5-1 win on aggregate over last year’s winners, Real Madrid. Their last Champions League game at the Emirates Stadium ended in a 3-0 win over Los Blancos, marking arguably the greatest European night in their history.
But they face a tougher task against French champions PSG this time around, who knocked out Aston Villa with a 5-4 win on aggregate. Luis Enrique’s side went 2-0 up (5-1 agg) in the second leg but almost suffered a meltdown as Villa scored three in quick succession, with the Parisians progressing through the skin of their teeth.
Arsenal and PSG, of course, know all about each other, having met earlier in the competition’s league stage back in October, where Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka’s goals gave Mikel Arteta’s men a comfortable victory. Here, Mirror Football brings you all the information you need on how to watch their upcoming clash.
How to watch Arsenal vs PSG
Arsenal vs PSG kick-off is scheduled for 8 pm (BST) on Tuesday, April 29. The titanic fixture will be shown live on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, with coverage starting an hour before kick-off.
An Amazon Prime subscription is required to access Prime Video, which can be viewed on any smart device or computer. For fans not based in the UK, various local Champions League rights holders will show the game, such as France’s FootCanal+, Paramount+ in the USA, and beIN Sports in the Middle East.
The basic cost of Amazon is £8.99 or £95 if you pay annually. That also comes with online shopping benefits like free delivery and discounted Prime Days. But if you just want access to Prime Video via your streaming device or smart TV, it’s £5.99 per month.
If you’re not already an Amazon Prime, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial with your credit/debit card details, which will auto-renew at £8.99 per month unless cancelled.
Why is the game not being shown on TNT Sports?
The game will not be shown live on traditional UK television. TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) has held live rights to Champions League action for some time, but the Discovery-owned broadcaster will not be showing the action from the Emirates because of a TV deal starting from this season.
Amazon Prime Video has shown one Champions League game per matchday since the start of this season, with first picks on Tuesday. As they did back in October, they have opted to show the Gunners vs. PSG.
Team news
The biggest team news on Arsenal’s side is that Thomas Partey will miss the fixture due to a suspension he picked up at the Bernabeu following a yellow card. Makeshift No. 9 Mikel Merino is also a doubt after not appearing in the matchday squad for Arsenal’s midweek clash with Crystal Palace, with the in-form Leandro Trossard potentially stepping in in his place.
Defender Ben White is also a doubt as he struggles with fitness following a long-term knee problem, though Riccardo Calafiori could be involved in the squad after his own knee injury. Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus will also miss the fixture.
PSG will bring a strong squad to north London for their away leg, carrying no fresh injury concerns and no suspensions after suffering their first league defeat of the season to Nice last Friday.
