Nuno Tavares’ meteoric rise is prompting Lazio to make his transfer from Arsenal permanent as soon as possible, aiming to take advantage of the early June transfer window before the Club World Cup.

As reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, the worst-case scenario would see Marco Baroni’s side make a significant capital gain, as they believe Tavares’ current value has risen to an estimated €60-65m.

Qualifying for the Champions League would help strengthen the club’s position, making a permanent stay at the Stadio Olimpico more appealing for the 25-year-old. However, regardless of the scenario, owner Claudio Lotito is expected to keep his demands high, given that Arsenal retain a 40% sell-on clause for the player.

By securing the transfer early, Lazio aim to fend off interest from other clubs, including Chelsea, who had expressed interest in January.
