Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta looks set to start Christian Norgaard in the defensive midfield department in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Slavia Prague on the road.
The Gunners have had Martin Zubimendi as the regular choice in the no.6 role, but he won’t play any part tomorrow after picking up a suspension for three yellow cards in the European competition.
In his absence, Norgaard looks poised to start in the holding midfield position. The £15 million signing has been the Spaniard’s deputy and could finally make his full Champions League debut.
Arteta has another option of playing Declan Rice alongside Mikel Merino, but the latter could be asked to lead the attack following an unfortunate injury for Viktor Gyokeres against Burnley last weekend.
Gyokeres sustained a muscle injury in the opening half against the Clarets and he will be assessed in the coming days. The Swede is a big doubt for the weekend’s league game at Sunderland as well.
