Aston Villa have had a third offer of £7.5million plus add-ons rejected for Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers who is valued at around £12m.

The 21-year-old joined Boro in a £1million transfer from Manchester City last summer and has impressed for the Championship side this season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in all competitions.

Should Rogers leave Teesside this month, City will receive a sell-on fee as part of the deal.

Speaking on Monday, Villa boss Unai Emery said he remained hopeful to add a couple of players before deadline day.

‘The club is working for some players who can leave and if we can add one or two players,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Emery also wants midfielder Jacob Ramsey to stay amid transfer interest from Newcastle and Bayern Munich.

Villa value Ramsey at £50m and selling the academy graduate would give them room to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

‘Jacob Ramsey is a very important player,’ he said.

‘He grew up here in the academy. His progression is clear and getting better. I want to keep him here with us.

‘Teams maybe involved in the possibility to sign him, because he has big potential with Aston Villa and England, 100 percent.’

The 22-year-old has made just 14 appearances for Villa this season, missing eight games across October and November with a foot injury.
