The Norwegian wonderkid appears to be on the verge of finally making a firm decision on his future. After holding talks with the likes of Arsenal and City Football Group in January, Nypan is in very advanced negotiations with Aston Villa.

David Ornstein of The Athletic, confirming reports from Norway, states that the Birmingham club are confident of being able to secure the signature of the mercurial 18-year-old.

Although Villa have yet to agree personal terms with the teenage midfielder, they are working hard to finalise his signing in a bid to beat his other suitors to the punch.

Villa have now moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to snap up Nypan and Ornstein states that there is ‘optimism’ at Villa Park that they can pull off this ‘coup.’

Nypan set for Aston Villa

Nypan is regarded as one of the biggest prospects in European football. The Norwegian has been playing regular top-flight football for Rosenborg since age 16.

Arsenal were confident of being able to land him after holding very positive talks in January, but the player ultimately decided against moving in the winter. City Football Group-owned Girona were also in talks to sign Nypan with a view to a future move to Man City.

Ornstein does not mention how much Villa will have to pay to secure the signature of Nypan, but it is clear that they are on the verge of pulling off a mightily exciting deal.

Nypan scored his first goal of the new Norwegian season earlier this month after netting eight times last year and providing 10 assists across all competitions. He has been likened to compatriot Martin Odegaard, but he will soon be able to forge his own path in the Premier League.
