Reports in Italy claim that Atalanta are expecting to receive a new offer from Inter for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman in the near future, after turning down an initial bid from the Nerazzurri last week.

Inter have identified Lookman as their next target in the summer transfer window following the previous arrivals of Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique and Ange-Yoan Bonny.

The Nerazzurri, who are prepared to hand the former Everton, Fulham and RB Leipzig forward a €4m-per-season contract, have already had an initial offer rejected by La Dea this summer. The Nerazzurri had initially offered to take Lookman on loan with an option to buy, which was swiftly turned down.

While Inter had been prepared to offer a transfer fee in the region of €40m, Atalanta are seeking a fee closer to €50m.

Atalanta, who have already raised €65m through the sale of Mateo Retegui to Al-Qadsiah this summer, are expecting Inter to come back in with a new and improved offer for Lookman in the near future, according to reports from Calciomercato.com

The fact that Atalanta have already raised a significant sum through the sale of Retegui this summer, they are said to be in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a deal involving Lookman.

Thursday’s report claims that Inter could return with a new offer that has improved by €2m-€3m compared to their initial €40m bid.
