Fabian Rieder could stay in the Bundesliga as FC Augsburg are exploring a late transfer.

Sandro Wagner’s Augsburg started the season positively, and they could land a big transfer before the window shuts tomorrow. Fabian Rieder, who was a topic at the club earlier this summer, could still complete a move to the Bavarians.

The Swiss international won the DFB-Pokal with VfB Stuttgart after leaving Rennes for the Bundesliga side on a loan deal. Stuttgart decided against signing him permanently, but the set-piece specialist could still remain in the league with Augsburg one of the interested clubs.

Sky report the transfer will not affect the future of Alexis Claude-Maurice, who also signed from a Ligue 1 club last season. Claude-Maurice is a sought-after attacking midfielder after his excellent debut season in Augsburg, but they want to keep their biggest asset.
