Expectations were high when Sandro Wagner replaced Jess Thorup as Augsburg coach during the summer, but it has been far from all roses so far.

Most recently, Die Fuggerstädter suffered a disappointing 0-6 home defeat to RB Leipzig, leaving them 15th in the table with seven points from eight games.

Despite their struggles, Wagner’s job is not in danger, with Bild reporting that the management continues to “steadfastly trust” the former Germany assistant coach.

Augsburg sporting director Benjamin Weber emphasized after the Leipzig thrashing that the club remains “convinced by the approach” and intends to continue with Wagner “until things work.”

Next up for Augsburg is a DFB-Pokal clash against Bochum on Tuesday, followed by Bundesliga matches against Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart.
