Sevilla and Strasbourg are interested in signing banned Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk, according to a report.
The Ukraine international remains in limbo over his future after being officially charged by the FA for a doping offence in June. Mudryk has not played for Chelsea in over a year and faces a potential suspension of up to four years.
However, the 24-year-old is still awaiting a final verdict. This process, which a recent report described as ‘painfully slow,’ has yet to reach a conclusion, leaving Mudryk completely in the dark. The player is not allowed to train with Chelsea and has to keep himself fit individually.
The last time Mudryk was seen anywhere near his teammates was after the Conference League final earlier this year, when he picked up his winner’s medal after featuring in the early rounds of the competition.
Details regarding the situation are sparse as the whole process is highly confidential, yet a sensational report now claims that a positive judgment on the case could be imminent.
Mudryk to be cleared?
Canal Sur Radio from Spain asserts that, if everything goes well, Mudryk could be cleared of his doping charges on 17 January, which has attracted the attention of potential suitors.
Mudryk still has a long-term Chelsea contract, but it is posited that a loan move in January could help him get his career back on track. Game time at Stamford Bridge would be limited after a year without competitive football.
The Spanish radio station claims that Sevilla have already made initial enquiries into Mudryk’s situation as they are desperate for January reinforcements. However, a move to Andalusia would require Chelsea to cover most of his salary due to Sevilla’s financial difficulties.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that a potential move to BlueCo sister Strasbourg is also being mulled over. Yet this isn’t without potential problems either.
Chelsea have already used up their three permitted loan deals with Strasbourg on Kendry Paez, Mike Penders and Mamadou Sarr. So, unless the Blues recall a player, they won’t be able to park Mudryk in France.
Given the confidential nature of the Ukrainian’s situation, this reporting needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
