Rafa Benitez was denied a famous win over Barcelona as Celta Vigo blew a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at the Olympic Stadium.
On loan Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo was the last gasp hero setting up Robert Lewandowski for the second and then scoring the winning third goal on 89 minutes.
‘I didn’t play well today,’ he said after the win. ‘There were a lot of errors that I don’t usually make but you have to stay focused and in the end I was able to help us win the game.’
Celta Vigo stunned the 44,000 inside Barcelona’s temporary home when they took a first half lead through Jorge Strand Larssen and at one point at the start of the second half they managed four shots to Barcelona’s one.
Xavi brought on 16-year-old Lamine Yamal and Ronald Araujo at half time but it made little difference as Greek forward Anastasios Douvikas made it 2-0 after being set up by Iago Aspas.

But the brilliant Aspas was tiring and had to go off with 10 minutes left – Celta collapsed shortly afterwards.
Joao Felix clipped a delightful pass through to Lewandowski and he clipped an equally delightful finish over Villar to make it 2-1.
Cancelo then ran in behind Celta’s defence to tee-up Lewandowski for his second of the game and the equalizer and it was now clear there was only going to be one winner.
There were seven minutes added on but Barcelona did not need them as, with 60 seconds left, Cancelo ghosted into the area unmarked from Gavi’s pass to score.
The result sends Barcelona top ahead of Sunday’s Madrid derby and full of confidence having seen how Cancelo and Felix have both started so well.
The result leaves Benitez’ side hovering above the drop zone. There were so many positives to take from the game but ultimate no points.
Oscar Mingueza who had a late chance to level said: ‘We cannot be 2-0 up in games and then end up with nothing.’
