Barcelona join the race for Schlotterbeck and Upamecano

The Catalan giants have lined up two of the Bundesliga’s best centre-halves in Schlotterbeck and Upamecano as possible transfer targets.

According to Mundo Deportivo’s information, Nico Schlotterbeck and Dayot Upamecano are both part of FC Barcelona’s transfer plans. 

Scouting of the national team players has been intensified, and Schlotterbeck and Upamecano have been identified as ideal reinforcements. 

While the BVB defender is under contract until 2027, the Frenchman would be available on a free transfer from Bayern Munich next summer.

Currently, the respective Bundesliga clubs are still trying their best to extend the contracts of both central defenders.

Should this fail, it could increase the Catalan side’s chances. However, numerous other clubs are also monitoring both players’ situations. 

Furthermore, doubts over Barcelona’s financial situation in the event of a bidding war with Europe’s heavyweights is questionable at best.
