Barcelona have continued their trend of finding creative financial solutions to curb their current monetary issues by selling diamonds made from the only Nou Camp turf.

The LaLiga champions began a 24-month tenancy of the Olympic Stadium in August as their ground undergoes a £1.3billion renovation project.

The massive outlay comes amidst the club’s precarious financial position and subsequent, often comical, attempts to circumvent league rules to acquire and register players.

Therefore, it’s little surprise the Catalan giants have come up with a new money making venture to ease their woes and commemorate their famous old ground.

On Monday a range of new products were released on the club’s website including a portion of the last ever goal nets for £69, a framed square of the pitch for £364, a gold Camp Nou pin for £606 and a gold Camp Nou necklace for £867.

A range of new products hit the club’s website this week with the pick of the bunch being a diamond created from the same carbon as the old Nou Camp grass

Barcelona are redeveloping the Nou Camp in the largest renovation in the stadium’s history

But the most eye-catching items on sale were diamonds produced with the same carbon as the old Camp Nou grass.

The half carat option will set someone back £2,200, while the single carat rock fetches around £13,000.

According to Spanish outlet Cadena Cope, the carbon from the grass has been extracted and then crystallised in a process which is claimed to be completely sustainable and with ‘zero environmental impact’.

Customers will receive certificate from the International Gemological Institute confirming that the diamond has been made in a laboratory.

Ahead of the Nou Camp being torn down, fans were also welcomed to purchase a selection of objects from the rest of the stadium including seats and signs.

The Barcelona ground will have more facilities for fans, new VIP areas and a stadium roof

Barcelona’s renovation will include a roof and the stadium’s name being changed to the Spotify Nou Camp. The capacity will also increase from 99,000 to 105,000.

The Blaugrana will also create more facilities for supporters, including new VIP areas, while the seats inside the stadium will also be bigger after the plans are completed.

They had originally hoped to reopen the stadium in time for their 125th anniversary in 2024, but their return is now expected to come in the 2025-26 season.

It is set to earn the club an extra £25million a year when completed.
