Clement Turpin will be the referee for the Champions League semi-final first leg between Barcelona and Inter on Wednesday night. Here is everything you need to know about the French official, his team and his history in matches involving Barca and the Nerazzurri.

Who will referee Barcelona-Inter?

Turpin will be joined by assistant referees Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages, fourth official Francois Letexier and VARs Jerome Brisard and Willy Delajod at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

The Frenchman has taken charge of 16 Ligue 1 matches this season, one in Ligue 2, six in the Champions League, plus an extra one in the qualifying round, three in the Europa League, two in the Conference League, two in the Coupe de France and three international matches.

Of Turpin’s matches in the Champions League this season, he has taken charge of two games involving Italian sides (Atalanta 0-0 Arsenal and Juventus 2-0 Manchester City), and two matches involving Spanish sides (Manchester City 2-3 Real Madrid and Real Madrid 2-1 Atletico).

Turpin record against Barcelona and Inter

Turpin has officiated in five games involving Inter over the course of his career: The second leg of the Champions League semi-final win over Milan in 2022-23, a 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the group stage of the same season, a 3-2 loss to Real Madrid in 2020-21, a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in 2018-19 and a 2-0 loss to Hadjuk Split in the Europa League all the way back in 2012-13.

Turpin has taken charge of four games involving Barcelona in his career to date: a 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Europa League in 2022-23, a 1-0 Champions League win over Dynamo Kyiv in 2021-22, a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in 2019-20 and the memorable 3-0 loss to Roma in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals in 2017-18.
