Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal is now the youngest player in history to assist a goal in the Champions League knockout stages.
Yamal provided the assist for Raphinha’s opener during Barcelona’s quarter-final second-leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain at just 16 years and 283 days old to set a new record.
The Spain international picked up the ball on the right flank and used his pace to burst past PSG defender Nuno Mendes, before he delivered an outside-the-boot cross with his left foot, which was turned home by Raphinha.

Yamal is also the youngest player to feature in a Champions League knockout stage match after his appearance against Napoli in the last-16. He is also the second-youngest player in Champions League history – behind Youssoufa Moukoko.
The Spain international is yet to score in the Champions League, but he still has time to break Ansu Fati’s record. Fati, who also came through Barcelona’s La Masia academy, scored against Napoli at 17 years and 40 days old.

Yamal’s latest record is far from the only one of his career. He is the youngest player to win La Liga, after achieving the feat last season, and he is the youngest player to ever feature for Barcelona’s first-team.
The Spaniard is also the youngest goal-scorer in La Liga history. He scored against Granada in October to break the record previously set by Malaga’s Fabrice Olinga back in 2012.
Furthermore, the teenager broke three major records for Spain during a historic September international break for the Barca star.

Yamal became his nation’s youngest ever player, goal-scorer and starter, thanks to his goal off the bench in their 7-0 demolition of Georgia and his inclusion in the starting XI against Cyprus.
In October, Barcelona legend Rafa Marquez spoke about Yamal in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. He said: “He belongs to that group of gifted players who have this innate talent and no matter what age they are, they can compete at any level and make a difference. Ronaldinho, Messi… Lamine can be the next one.
“He has all the qualities. Obviously, you have to take care of it all because he’s still a kid.”
