Bayern and Frankfurt cop hefty UEFA fines and temporary supporter bans

Both Bundesliga clubs suffered punishments for what UEFA deemed unacceptable fan behaviour amongst other things.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Panel have made the decision to impose bans and fines on both Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich. 

Frankfurt have been punished for setting off and throwing fireworks and disturbing public order during their December 9 game against FC Barcelona.

As a result, Frankfurt are prohibited from selling tickets to its away fans for the next UEFA club competition match (against FK Qarabag on the 21 January 2026).

The Hessen club was also fined €30,000 for setting off said fireworks, throwing objects and fined a further €8,000 for property damage to the away section toilets. 

Frankfurt must contact Barcelona within 30 days of notification of this decision to settle the damage caused by its supporters which happened during the 2-1 defeat. 

On a similar scale, Bayern Munich have also been hit with mirrored punishments for their fans’ use of fireworks during a decent Uefa Champions League game. 

The partial closure of sectors 111–114 in the Allianz Arena during one game (against Union Saint-Gilloise on 21 January 2026) has already been put in place for use of fireworks. 

Meanwhile, a €30,000 and partial closure of the Südkurve for another home game was imposed on a suspended sentence for a probationary period of two years.

In addition to the game against Sporting Lisbon, the Bavarians copped a €70,000 fine for thrown objects, crowd disturbances and transmitting a message not fit for a sports event against Arsenal.

Finally, another €16,000 fine was slapped on the German record champions for the blocking of public passageways, according to Uefa’s review.
