Last summer, Thomas Müller said goodbye to FC Bayern Munich after 25 years at the Bavarian club, completing a move to Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Another Munich-born player could now follow a similar path at Bayern, according to the club’s board member for sport, Max Eberl.

Like Müller, Aleksandar Pavlovic is born in Munich and came through the club’s youth academy, and Eberl believes the midfielder has the potential to follow a similar career path.

“He has what it takes to become a ‘Müller 2.0,’” Eberl told Sky Germany, before going on to praise Pavlovic’s mentality.

“He was never considered the top talent. He really worked extremely hard for all of this. He earned his chance from (former Bayern coach) Thomas Tuchel back then, then fought his way in and is on a very, very good path,” Eberl continued.

“He is 21, but looking at what the boy does – how he pushes forward, how he learns from players like Leon [Goretzka] and others, and how he follows his own path, he has what it takes.”

Pavlovic, 21, has made 87 appearances for Bayern so far, scoring six goals and providing four assists.
