Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano appear to be largely in agreement over a contract extension beyond next summer.

According to Bild, salary and bonuses are no longer an issue, but one key point remains unsettled: a potential release clause and the date it would become active.

The two sides are reportedly negotiating an exit clause set at around €65 million. Upamecano reportedly wants the clause to be active from 2027, while Bayern have so far insisted it should only be triggerable a year later.

However, Bild reports that Bayern are now considering giving in to Upamecano’s demands in order to finalise an extension and avoid the risk of losing the centre-back on a free transfer next summer, when his current contract expires.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are both understood to be monitoring the situation and could move to sign Upamecano as a free agent if an agreement with Bayern is not reached.
