Max Eberl has confirmed that Bayern Munich are looking to sign another player before the transfer window closes – but not on a permanent basis.

Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has confirmed the club is looking to sign a player on loan before the transfer window closes.

The German champions have already brought in three players this summer, signing Luis Díaz, Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof for a combined fee of around €72 million.

Meanwhile, several players – including Kingsley Coman, Paul Wanner, Joao Palhinha, Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller – have left, raising concerns about squad depth.

Speaking to Sky on Friday, Eberl admitted the squad is “probably not yet complete.”

He added: “We are still trying, there’s still time until September 1. And then my work can be evaluated again. I have to be able to look at myself in the mirror, and so far I still can.”

Having had several bids for Stuttgart star Nick Woltemade turned down, Bayern are now focusing on signing a player on loan, Eberl revealed.

“Our clear task is that if we want to add something to the squad, it has to be via a loan. And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do right now,” Eberl said.

“Bayern have always been careful with their finances. The club operates without investors and aims to generate revenue through transfers, and that’s something we have to accept in sport.

“So far, we’ve had a very good transfer window: we’ve sold several players and brought in three – ‘Jona’ [Tah], Tom Bischof, and ‘Lucho’ [Luis Diaz]. Now we still want to add to the squad, and the plan is to do so via a loan, which is what we’re currently working on.”

He also confirmed that Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, who has been linked with Bayern, is not a target.
