Bayern not in contact with Wirtz, insists Eberl

Max Eberl has denied reports that Bayern Munich have held talks with Florian Wirtz’s father.

Reports have suggested that Bayern Munich have made Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz their top target for next summer’s transfer window.

A report in Sport Bild last month went as far as to claim that Bayern had approached Wirtz’s father and agent, Hans-Joachim Wirtz.

However, when asked if Bayern have been in contact with Hans-Joachim Wirtz, board member for sport Max Eberl replied with a flat “no” ahead of his side’s 0-1 DFB-Pokal defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

“We are currently in contact with the players whose contracts we want to extend,” Eberl insisted ahead of Bayern’s 0-1 DFB-Pokal defeat at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané are among the players the Bavarians are talking to about new deals.
