Herbert Hainer has expressed his desire to have Thomas Muller work at Bayern Munich after the player chooses to retire.

The Bavarian’s club president Hainer sees a similar opportunity with the 35-year-old as has already happened to Philipp Lahm.

“For Thomas, that depends on his fitness and how he feels,” Hainer explained.

“We also want to talk to him about what he will do after his career, because we would like to involve him one way or another at FC Bayern.

“Whether he wants to do something immediately or whether he wants to take a break after such a long active career is something he must decide for himself,” he concluded.

With Muller seemingly on the fringes of head coach Vincent Kompany’s plans, a move away or even retirement might loom in the not-too-distant future.

The 131-cap German international is closing in on 500 appearances for the Bavarian giants in which he has scored 150 goals.
