According to Sky Germany, Lennart Karl attracted interest from Real Madrid and Ajax before he chose to sign a new deal with Bayern Munich.

After impressing for Bayern Munich at the Club World Cup and during preseason, 17-year-old Lennart Karl recently signed a new long-term contract with the German champions.

According to Sky Germany, Karl had other attractive options on the table, as both Real Madrid and Ajax showed interest in the promising youngster.

Ultimately, however, the winger chose to stay with Bayern, as he feels at home at the club and trusts the clear career plan laid out by the management.

As part of this plan, Karl will be a regular part of the first-team squad next season and should have a decent chance of getting regular playing time as a backup for Michael Olise on the right wing.

Following the announcement of Karl’s new deal, Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, stated that the club aims to “gradually integrate Lennart Karl into the first team.”

“We want to continue fostering the pathway for talents from the FC Bayern Campus alongside their hunger for success,” Eberl pointed out.
