After initial reports suggested that Bayern Munich had rekindled their interest in Jonathan Tah, it now appears that the German giants are already deep into negotiations with the centre-back.

According to The Athletic, Bayern are in advanced talks to sign the 29-year-old on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, where his contract expires, with a three-year deal and an option for an additional year on the table.

Spanish outlet AS goes even further, estimating the likelihood of Tah joining Bayern at “90 percent,” though a final decision has yet to be made.

The report adds that Bayern have offered Tah a higher salary than last summer, along with a long-term contract.

AS also mentions that the only serious competition for Bayern comes from Real Madrid, who are expected to announce Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso as their new head coach soon.

FC Barcelona, meanwhile, are no longer considered contenders due to their ongoing financial difficulties.
