FC Bayern announce that Tom Bischof had to undergo surgery on his appendix at short notice.

The Rekordmeister will kick off the Bundesliga season at home against RB Leipzig tomorrow, but they’ll have to do so without one of their new signings. Tom Bischof has been impressive in preseason following his move from TSG Hoffenheim, but he’ll have to wait for his league debut for the champions.

The club announced that the 20-year-old midfielder had to undergo surgery on his appendix at short notice. Sky report that he might not return to action before the first international break of the season.

The German international played his first official games for Bayern in the Club World Cup and the Franz Beckenbauer-Supercup. Bischof joined Bayern on a free transfer from Hoffenheim before the clubs agreed on a small transfer fee so that he’ll feature in the Club World Cup.
