Bayern’s two main alternatives to Nico Williams revealed

Athletic Club’s Nico Williams has widely been mentioned as their top target, but with the Spain international apparently eager to join Barcelona, Bayern know that completing a deal for him is rather unlikely.

As a result, they are expected to shift their focus – but who will they turn to next?

According to Kicker, Bayern’s two main alternatives are Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and AC Milan’s Rafael Leão.

Bayern were first linked with Gittens several months ago and now appear to have renewed their interest in the 20-year-old.

Widely expected to leave Dortmund, Gittens has primarily been linked with Chelsea, who reportedly had a €55 million offer rejected prior to the Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Leão has been a Bayern target for several weeks. The Portugal international is said to be open to a move, but some of Bayern’s decision-makers have reportedly expressed concerns about his mentality.
