Amorim on Man Utd win at Anfield

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has said that the Premier League victory over Liverpool was the biggest in his time at the club.

The Red Devils went into the game as underdogs and made the perfect statement as Bryan Mbeumo scored after just 60 seconds on the clock.

They had plenty of chances to double their advantage in the opening half. The Reds eventually equalised in the 78th minute, but their joy was shortlived.

Harry Maguire scored with a header in the 84th minute to secure the Red Devils’ first victory at Anfield since their 1-0 win in January 2016.

Speaking after the result, Amorim said: “I think that was the biggest win in my time at Manchester United. It means a lot today but tomorrow it won’t mean a lot. It’s three points and it’s a good victory.”

With the win, the Red Devils have jumped into the top half of the standings and they are presently just two points behind the Champions League qualification spots.

United were deemed to be in a crisis few weeks ago, but back-to-back victories have changed the mood around the club and eased the pressure on the manager as well.
