When Derrick Köhn was taken off in the second half of Werder Bremen’s 2-1 DFB-Pokal quarter-final defeat to Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday, the wing-back got into a heated discussion with teammate Leonardo Bittencourt on his way off the pitch.

In a post-match interview, Bittencourt told Kicker that he was frustrated that Köhn didn’t leave the pitch quicker, as Werder were behind and needed a goal.

“It’s 2-1, but you just want to take your (sock) tape off before getting off the pitch,” Bittencourt said.

“I don’t understand some of the guys. Get off, we’re running out of time. I don’t know what’s going on in some people’s heads. I can’t have this anymore.”

According to Kicker, the discussion between the two players continued after the game, but it didn’t come to a physical confrontation. Everything has been cleared up internally, the club told Kicker after the game.
