Mainz momentarily climbed to fifth place after a 2-0 win over St. Pauli. But their coach isn’t too pleased about the performance.

After a dull first-half, Mainz 05 came to life after the break to beat St. Pauli thanks to goals from half-time substitute Lee Jae-Sung and Paul Nebel. The visitors finished the game without a shot on target, but they weren’t without chances to take the lead before Mainz’s resurgence.

“It wasn’t a good game at all,” bemoaned Bo Henriksen after the game. “But, taking results from such games is definitely the next step for Mainz. That was the best thing for us today.” said the Danish coach.

Meanwhile, Alexander Blessin was unable to lead his team from the dugout after picking up his fourth yellow card in last week’s defeat in Freiburg. “We were close and we would have deserved a draw,” said the 51-year-old after his side conceded yet another late goal.

While Peter Nemeth took over his role, Blessin didn’t enjoy his time at the stands. “I don’t need this experience again, to be honest. That’s for sure. It’s much better to take another sip of the bottle next time and keep my mouth shut.”
