Bologna CEO confirms Italiano extension talks after Coppa Italia victory: ‘We will continue together’ – Football Italia – May 15 latest

Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci insists that the Rossoblu and head coach Vincenzo Italiano ‘will continue together’ after the players lifted the club’s first major title in 51 years with a 1-0 victory over Milan in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday night.

A single goal from Dan Ndoye was enough for Bologna to claim a 1-0 victory over Milan, which also guarantees them a spot in the Europa League with the team still in seventh place in Serie A with two games to go.

Though they are in seventh place in the league standings, Bologna remain just two points away from the top four, albeit with Juventus, Roma and Lazio sitting between them and the Champions League positions.

Bologna ‘already talking’ to Italiano representatives over contract extension

This has been seen as an overwhelmingly positive season for the Rossoblu, who changed head coaches in the summer after Thiago Motta left to join Juventus, on top of the departure of key players in Riccardo Calafiori for Arsenal and Joshua Zirkzee for Manchester United.

Much of the credit has gone to Italiano, who took over after a second consecutive Conference League final with Fiorentina, but came in and hit the ground running at the Dall’Ara.

And now, after lifting Bologna’s first title in 51 years, Italiano is likely to extend his contract by a further 12 months until the summer of 2027, La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests.

Bologna CEO Fenucci also spoke about Italiano’s future after full-time on Wednesday night: “We’ve already started talking to the lawyer who represents him,” the Rossoblu executive disclosed.

“He’s been very good for us, we’re happy with him as a professional and as a person. We will continue together.”
