Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore aimed a dig at Milan following a 2-1 win at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Thursday: ‘The best response to arrogance.’

Last night, the Rossoblu hosted Milan in a rescheduled Week 9 fixture. The match was initially meant to be played in October but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions and floods in the Emilia Romagna region.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side secured a 2-1 victory, moving to 6th place in the Serie A table.

“A wonderful victory, the best response to arrogance. Thank you, guys,” Lepore wrote on Instagram, sharing a picture of a jubilant Dan Ndoye.

Lepore ruled in October that the Stadio Dall’Ara would not be available for Bologna-Milan, forcing Lega Serie A to reschedule their Serie A meeting.

Milan and Bologna’s commitments in Coppa Italia and the Champions League made it impossible to play the rescheduled match before last night.

Milan pushed to play the game back in October, even on neutral turf or behind closed doors.

Back then, Rossoneri President Paolo Scaroni said he was “furious” that the game was ultimately rescheduled, a decision that caused a “significant problem” for the Rossoneri.
