Bologna are set to miss Lewis Ferguson for at least the next three weeks with a muscular problem, so he probably won’t play the start of the Serie A season.

The official Bologna website confirms that he sustained an injury during training and tests showed a Grade I lesion to the left calf muscle.

This type of injury is expected to keep him out of action for around three weeks.

That means he will not be available for the Serie A season opener, which is against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on August 23.

The Scotland international joined Bologna in the summer of 2022 from Aberdeen at a cost of €2m and his value has since sky rocketed thanks to his Serie A performances.

While Bologna won the Coppa Italia last season, Ferguson missed most of the campaign after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his knee in April 2024.
